Your FallYour Fall comes from one of my favorite places in the world, Curitiba, Brazil. If you are at all into environmental conservation type stuff then you may already be aware of Curitiba. It is without question one of the most environmentally friendly cities in the world. Around the world it has a reputation for being one of the most progressive cities in terms of its social programs, it's high speed articulated buses which travel on dedicated busways and its gorgeous landscape. But enough about that, lets get to the real issue at hand here, Your Fall.
These guys are heavily influenced by NYHC, more specifically by bands like Cro-Mags, Killing Time, Leeway, Breakdown, and Warzone. They have only been around since 2006 and yet they have already released a demo, toured Brazil three times with No Turning Back, Outbreak, and Watch Your Back and have this full length under their belts. Pretty impressive.
This full length consists of 10 tracks of standard NYHC fair. The songs are short and to the point the majority of the time, leaving little room for the listener to get bored. This is very important in this case. These guys are good at what they do but eh, it's really nothing memorable though. I know most of what comes out these days is rehashing the ‘glory days' but some are able to put their own twist on things better than others. These guys do it better than a lot of bands but not good enough to catch a lot of replay. They have the short sweet bursts of hardcore leads and pummeling mid-paced riffing but it's still just eh to me.
The lyrics have the same problem of the lyrics; it's just not original enough. The lyrics stick to the tried and true formula of persistence, perseverance and the hate for the untrue. Too much of the same for me.
The best aspect of the release is the layout. The booklet folds out into six panels; on the front is an awesome illustration of a ship being taken under by a giant squid while hammerhead sharks circle and what for fresh meat. The flip side displays the lyrics in an eye friendly fashion; white font on a black background with a nice big sized font. The only thing that sucks about the booklet is that it's prone to getting fucked up when you fold it back up.
Rating: 3/5
Songs Worthy of Replay: "Passion" & "Nightmare"
Synopsis: After reading the review and seeing the rating you're probably thinking "Damn I thought it would've been a 2 or some shit". It isn't that these guys are bad at what they do, they are extremely proficient but for me it's just too much of the same.
But like I always say, be the judge for yourself. Who knows, this may be the next CD you purchase!
