DANG!
Self Released

Jeff Karbow

These guys started back in 2002 and have put out numerous releases that include a 7-song demo 7" titled "Level 10", a full length titled "Panic Attack", and a slew of other self released singles, EP's and what not.

I have no idea if this shit was even actually put out, though I know some of the songs were taken from their other releases. I have seen no documentation of this album and the cover used for this album has since been used as a cover for their single "Turn For The Worse".

Listening to these guys is like being placed in a time machine and being sent back into the late 70's early 80's. These guys are punk rock, DIY, all the way. From the music and recording, down to the DIY comics made by guitarist Justin Melkmann (more on those comics later!). And fuck does this shit sound raw but in such a fucking awesome way. This shit sounds as if it was recorded in a live setting, giving it just the right amount of grit but it still has a "professional" sound. And the bass tone is fucking titties!

This 8 song EP includes fine gems such as "Portrait of Sobriety", "Jesus Freaks", "Gang Bang Island", "Empty V" (if you can't figure out what that means, you're a retard). And I can't begin to tell you what a pleasure surprise it was listening to this. You can tell by the music being blasted out of your speakers that these guys (especially Justin) really, really love GG Allin among other great punk bands that include but are not limited to: Discharge, Poison Idea, Circle Jerks, Black Flag.

The lyrics are fucking spectacular. The tongue in cheek nature of the lyrics are right up my alley (though they aren't always). The song "Thank God It's Monday" is a first person narrative about a guy who says he loves what he does and hates weekends yet wants to kill himself. Genius? I think so. And what about the awesome song "Jesus Freaks" which opens with the "Jesus in the morning, Jesus in the evening, Jesus for suppertime!" Any song that makes fun of "stupid fucking assholes" that try to preach to me is pleasant to these ears.

Rating: 3.7/5
Songs Worthy of Replay: "Intervention" & "Portrait of Sobriety"
Synopsis: If you are old and jaded and hate anything that's come out past 85, this may just be for you, if you enjoy quality punk rock, this is for you, if you need something to put on as you drink away your days, this is for you.
