Time To Escape
7" EP

So what we have here is a punk hardcore band based out of Washington, DC which is exemplified with the xeroxed front cover that has a rally taking place on the steps of the Capitol building. They draw from their influences of early Dischord, 7 Seconds, Uniform Choice, Circle Jerks and what have you, to form a sound that at times sounds vaguely similar to Youth of Today, minus the vocals. This EP consists of 5 tracks, which made up the bands 2005 demo, which had very little circulation, only about 200 were put out to the public. The songs vary in length, one song could be as short as :45 seconds while another is as long as 2 minutes. Side A consists of 3 songs; "Mr. Popular" is a song that aims to spit upon people who think they're too cool for school, especially those within the hardcore scene, "Wasted Time" is about how going to college for four years is nothing but aggravation and only serves to set you up for another 40 years of misery, "Blood's Not Think Enough" is about a family member or loved one who has fallen victim to addiction, in this case it's heroin. Side B features the last two songs; "Party Time" is a tongue in cheek song about stupid frat dudes who's main occupation is drinking themselves oblivious until they wrap their car around a tree, the final track "Run Away" is almost like the theme song of the band, it's about getting out of a inhibiting place.

Rating: 3/5
Songs Worthy of Replay: Wasted Time and Run Away
Synopsis: From top to bottom this thing just reeks of early 80's hardcore; the layout, the music and even the recording. The one thing about this 7" that didn't sit well for me was the recording, usually I like a dated sound but this is a bit too dirty. Other than that, not bad. I suggest you check out the two songs mentioned over at the bands MySpace, as always if you like what you hear head over to Grave Mistake Records and make the purchase!
