Taste The SteelBefore your ass goes thinking it, yes, I know this was released all the way back in 2006 but this shit finally just hit my hands, which is sad because this shit is right up my fucking alley! These Erie, PA natives know how to deliver some mouth smashing metal/hardcore. Musically this shit is hard as fuck and has metal all over the place but when you hear/read the lyrics you know where these guys stand, this is PA Hardcore through and through.
Musically, if you get down with the likes of Irate (and vocally you can vaguely compare their front man to Phil Vibes of Irate), All Out War, and Billy Club Sandwich (three of my favorites!) then there is not a mother fucking reason why you cannot get down with this shit. I love how they keep the songs short and to the point, with none of the five songs breaking 3 minutes. They hit you off with the good stuff, with no unnecessary filler to be found here.
As much as I enjoy their ability to beat the ground down, I really like the lyrical approach taken here. It's a political/social approach with pure anger and rage; the lyrics touch on the deceiving tactics of our government regarding the war in Iraq and how it has been neglected by the mainstream media, racism and how it is well and alive today, how people need to wake the fuck up and see the powers that be for what they really are...lying parasites, and how the government neglects the problems in inner cities.
The one thing that hinders this...just slightly is the recording. Now it isn't bad by any means but if this shit had more than a ‘solid' recording this thing would be insanely fucking heavy.
For a demo layout this is pretty standard fair, but for $3 it is well worth the price of admission. A one panel print out is housed inside of a slim jewel case, but fear not the one panel includes the lyrics to all the songs as well as contact information.

Synopsis: If you are a fan of the bands I mentioned earlier, you need to pick this up ASAP. Hard hitting and with a worthwhile message. "STAND UP AND THINK FOR YOURSELF!"
