StruckdownFrom the blizzard capitol of Pennsylvania comes Erie’s Struckdown. Spawned from the ashes of Blood of the Martyr and Restoration, Stuckdown plays a real posi, straightedge brand of hardcore. Which is a shocker because of late, everything out of the Indianola has been sub-par emo and metalcore. Songs like "Education" and "Humanity" are good songs with a positive message about educating yourself in school and in life. Which is a nice change of pace from the ever so common theme of pessimistic views and bleak outlooks. And I must say, this isn’t bad, some parts are downright catchy, but some things I could’ve done without. For instance the intro to Purity, the harmonica is out of leftfield and adds absolutely nothing to the song. Some of the lyrics are a little cheesy but I’ll take that over crying about girls and what pants to wear any day. With their positive outlook for a better tomorrow and some humorous tracks like Moshput and Tom Welch is the living dead, this band is probably a lot more fun live than their recordings, I just hope no one bust out the harmonica. As usual from Indianola the recording and production is good but with some decent music this time around. The layout is kind of corny, it has the members of the band holding their instruments as if they were tools for a "revolution." Aside from some of the corny shit, this is a solid release. For fans of With Honor, Comeback Kid, etc.
Rating: 3/5
Songs worthy of replay: Education and Revive Unite
Thesis: A band better judged live but regardless still good positive hardcore
