Slumlords/No Redeeming Social ValueSlumlords are back with another record to hold you over until their new full length, and NRSV is just back to drink some fucking beers and have a good time. The concept of the split is certainly unique, it's got NRSV covering two of the Slumlords best, "Time to Drink," and I Was Drink at the YOT Reunion with a new track fittingly called "Pussy, Pussy, Pussy meanwhile Slumlords hits you off with two NRSV covers of, "Piece of the Axxxe" and "Fabio" and a hilarious new song titled "Scottie Hates This Song." I wish I could've seen the two bands, most likely drunk as hell, teaching each other's songs, that had to be a sight to see no doubt. Well whatever they did, each band did dead on covers of each other's songs, I swear the cover of NRSV did of "Time To Drink," was identical, only thing missing was the bar scene sound clip in the background. The new song "Pussy, Pussy, Pussy," NRSV busts out with is everything you'd expect from them and more. "We Love Pussy, you know it's true. Pussy, pussy, pussy, my balls are blue. We eat pussy everyday. Why do we eat pussy? Cause' we're not gay." And Slumlords hits you off with a new one almost as funny as the NRSV one. The Slumlords never cease to amuse me with their hilarity, lyrics about a song you hate to play, who would've thunk it. "Scottie hates this song, and so do I. But Dom wants to play it and we don't know why, It's got that weird drum part the Scottie can't nail. We all know this song is bound to fail. Scottie hates this song and so do I. Sticking around like a thorn in his side." I wonder how many bands play songs most of the guys in the band hate but play it anyway because of the one person but just don't say it? Shifting gears, the production on this sounds great, ooh and then you have the warm sound of sweet vinyl, mmm. The layout on this thing is tighter than an anorexic virgin, it's got sick cartoon drawings of a rat for the Lords and a Cat for NRSV super imposed drinking a 40's together over a bar shoot, inside the sleeve is pictures of various bar paraphanelia with the lyrics and shit, very sweet. Anyway, this should hold you Slumlords fans over until the new album drops and sure to appease the legions of die hard NRSV fans out there. And hurry up vinyl nerds and nerdettes, this ones going fast and you'll be paying for it on EBAY soon.
