If for some strange reason you have not yet heard of Ruiner, they are a band from Baltimore, MD that plays melodic hardcore (they were around before the recent influx of melodic hardcore bands).

"I Heard These Dudes Are Assholes" is a discography of sorts. Not really sure if it was necessary to release this considering much of the material on here can still be acquired but hey what the fuck do I know, if people will buy it why not put it out right? Anyway, this release includes the 7"/EP "What Could Possibly Go Right?" (8 tracks) the split with Portugal's Day of The Dead (2 tracks), the Still Smiling Demo (3 tracks) and the demo version of "The Lives We Fear."

Even though the re-mastering of "What Could Possibly Go Right?" sounds better than the original version, it's not good enough to shell out the dough if you own all the records/CD's that this compilation includes unless you are a diehard fan of these guys and need to have anything with their name.

If you are one of those diehards then you are probably interested in the layout of the album. It is a simple black and white gloss layout that is centered around live photos that are placed througout the layout. While most of the photos are really good, the layout is nothing great. Actually, it is one of the most boring layouts I have seen. So...

Rating: 3.5/5
Songs Worthy of Replay: "Getting Over the Overs," "Out Go The Candles" & "Dear Philadelphia"
Synopsis: This release will be good for those who have either yet to hear the awesomeness that is Ruiner or don't own anything but "What Could Possibly Go Right" and would like to check out some of the band's less accessible tunes. I just wish they would've have done more with the massive 12 page booklet instead of making a layout that looks like it was created on a word processor.

And the reason the album scored a 3.5 has nothing to do with the music because if you have read my reviews of "What Could Possibly Go Right?" and "Prepare To Be Letdown" than you know I enjoy these guys a lot. It's more of the fact that I feel this was a premature compilation/discography album and the layout is pretty fucking bad.
