Pennsylvania's Out to Win has always been one of the best metallic hardcore bands at combining the speed and intensity of the fast straightforward style of hardcore with the bruising breaks and mosh parts of mid 90's tough guy hardcore. This album brings them back to the days of Mushmouth "Out to Win" era, while becoming even more proficient at composing their songs. What you get with "Beg for your life" is everything you would have come to expect from OTW but with a more honed approach to their song writing. After the sample fades out, the title track kicks in and right from the get go it has you pinned to the ground and beating you into the concrete. This song is a prime example of their ability to write good transitions between fast parts and mosh riffs without sounding forced or contrived. As the album pounds forward the beating just keeps intensifying. The following track "Ghost Army" just puts the hammer down, songs like this are the reason I originally got into Mushmouth/Out To Win. I was really hyped to hear Angels and Demons which features James Ismean (Fury of Five). Musically the song was tight as hell but I couldn't decipher Ismean's vocals from Henzel's, that was about the only REAL let down I had while listening to this. Bottom line is, Out to Win isn't pulling any new tricks out of the bag, they're playing the same brutal music with more prowess and skill, they're brutal as ever, and this is one of the best PAHC releases to come out in awhile. If you're into brutally honest music make it a mission to pick this one up.
