John Martin

It just might be the most irritating thing in a music reviewer's mind to get a CD for review with no accompanying bio sheet or information of any sort. It makes things even worse, when you can find next to nothing on the band online whatsoever. I understand that I should be judging the music only, however, I personally like to have any info on them. Sometimes it helps the reviewer understand where the band is coming from or what they are trying to accomplish. The information is so barren that the band doesn't list any contact info on the CD jacket and when you locate their Myspace profile you only learn that they are from Los Angeles, California. They only have two tracks on their player and no blogs, general info or friend comments. This band is becoming my Loch Ness Monster! I know there's something there, but how can I find it?

Not that the band's music is so good that I want to keep tabs on them. It's just the tantalizing allure of the unknown I think. Anyway, this band isn't bad, however. They play mid-'90s pop-punk in eerily similar vain to Goldfinger, Bigwig and Limp (not Bizkit, the Honest Don's band). In fact, the singer's voice is so identical to that band Limp's vocalist that I'm starting to believe they are one-and-the-same. Of course they could be and I'd never know thanks to the lack of information about the band.

If you grew up listening to those '90s pop-punk bands this may be for you. I got into punk music around this time, so I'm a fan of the California pop-punk sound. Unfortunately, not too much stands out on this record and it becomes very stale over 17 tracks. Again, it's not bad, just not good enough to get into it either.

Rating: 3/5
Songs Worthy of Replay: "Born In Fatherland", "Golden Life" & "Spirits Of Wine"
Synopsis: Think Limp…think Goldfinger…think mid-'90s Californian pop-punk and that's all you need to know. If you rather hear a new band doing this style, check these guys out. If you're content with throwing your old CD's back into rotation…then get the feather duster out and rock "Here In Your Bedroom" once again!
