LokyataWhat we have here is the latest release from Indianola Records. Upon my intial inspection of the release, the cover art and song titles made me gag. Generic, cliche, overdone and boring, I mean come on an album titled Purified In Anger with a guy in suspenders carrying a young girl wearing a dress covered in blood stains. The song titled are equally as bad, "You Can’t Say Much with a Gun In Your Mouth," I swear to god one out of every four shitty metalcore releases uses that god awful title. That’s fine and dandy and all if you’re a 15 year old wearing UFO pants, standing out front of the local Hot Topic on a Friday night. After my return from the nearest bathroom facility and wiping my mouth clean from the chunky vomit I popped in this disc and was actually surprised to hear some good instrumentation work. The surprise soon turned to grimace after hearing the utter shit that was coming out of the vocalist. The repeated line of- "I hate you, I fucking hate you," in the most whiny voice imaginable made me, again, run to the toilet. It’s actually ashame the lyrics and imagery portrayed by the band is so damn bad because at times the music is damn good and well written. Drawing influences from death metal, Sepultra and some of the more well known metalcore acts of the last 5 years. The music and the quality recording just cannot compensate for the make it big and ASAP aura of the band. To reaffirm that, this is their debut EP which pisses me off because there are much more label worthy bands than these guys, who have been around for years with many self released albums under their belt who never get the label support they so rightfully deserve, yet this fly by bands keep getting signed.
Rating: 0.5/5 (solely for the music aspect)
Songs worthy of replay: None
Thesis: Mall metalcore with no heart and integrity
