To The LionsWhat do you get when you add Death Threat’s Peace and Security, the clevo sound, 90's metalcore with flawless song writing? The best thing to come out of Canada since hockey and maple syrup. To The Lions brand of metalcore is more hardcore than 95% of the self proclaimed hardcore metallic acts of today, while managing to incorporate subtle melodic riffing. They also feature ex members of The Swarm and Grade and this is without a doubt better than any of the members previous material which is saying a lot because Grade was sick as hell. These guys are tight as hell in their arrangement of songs. Most demo’s have one lackluster track, this doesn’t even have a weak riff. You can feel the desperation and rage in the vocalist’s delivery, just further enhancing the listening experience on this six song demo. To top it off, the demo comes in a slick paper sleeve with an ideal lyric sheet. The weakest aspect is the recording, which isn’t weak at all. If a label picks these guys up and they get to re-record these song they will destroy. The attitude of the band is also refreshing, they know they’re great that’s why they’ve given you the chance to nap this demo for free at their website, complete with a print out sleeve and lyric sheet. If these guys aren’t one a label, releasing a full length in the next year I’ll be stunned. If you like Ringworm and Integrity, Death Threat, and metalcore played by dudes wearing properly fitted pants you will eat this up and be asking for seconds.
Rating: 5/5....A+++
Songs worthy of replay: All of them but most especially Ride The Apocalypse and From Fear and Hate Sets Free
Thesis: Best demo I’ve heard since Blacklisted’s. If you sleep on this band you’re missing out big time!
