Level SixFrom the first time I saw the bands name I already had a good idea of how this was going to sound. But I'll give anything a chance, because, well you can't judge a book by its cover, or in this instance, a band by its name. So upon opening the press package that was sent to me I could tell this band had a very professional business approach to their promotion campaign. It came equipped with a fancy black folder with the band logo stenciled on with black spray paint with a fancy, glossy band photo and quotes from the likes of Chino Moreno, Marilyn Manson, Chris Cornell, and what they had to say were very impressive, giving Level Six high endorsements. But onto the real matter at hand here, the music. Because it always comes down to the music, I don't give a fuck how nice a package is if their isn't shit in it. What we have is a four song demo recorded by Sylvia Massy Shivy, who has worked with Tool and System of A Down. The first song and first impression I got was akin to Life of Agony. The song "love is a myth" has a real punk rock melodic feel to it, with even a nice little gang vocal chorus that was catchy as hell. Also the one thing I'll always take from this song is lyric line, "If Aphrodite was a goddess for so long, then why was she a whore." And then the lead guitarist tears into a great solo. But sadly after this song things kind of fall off for me, the bands song writing then becomes a lot more uninteresting to me and reminds me far too much of the legions of rock bands competing for air time on rock stations. Which shouldn't be considering the lead guitarist has tons of ability that almost seems hindered by the structure of the songs. Put this guy in a straight up metal band and I bet he could shred with some of the best. The song writing is too disjointed, it's just various genres of popular heavy music interwoven into a decent song that lacks conviction. Don't get me wrong this is a lot better than bands like Seether, etc getting play time, and the band lets you know off the bat their in this for the monetary gain, this bands main goal is obviously MTV awards and platinum records. And I really wouldn't be surprised if they make it big, because everything is pretty much intact, just need to find their own sound. I would really like them to take the writing styles they laid down in the opening track. And I would really like to see the vocalist take a more forceful approach to his delivery, he needs to change it up more and that will add to the bands sound.

Songs worthy of replay: Love Is A Myth
Thesis: Rock that wants money just isn't my thing, sorry. But I'm sure this will appeal to a broad base, which I'm sure the band is looking to do. LevelSix.Net
