Lower Class BratsLower Class Brats are a four piece band that hails from Austin, Texas. They play punk rock music with an emphasis on the rock. When these guys started back in 1995, they set out to change the music scene in their hometown, aiming to do something different. Here they are with their newest release that is out on TKO Records titled "The New Seditionaries".
The first thing I noticed when I listened to this album was the way Bones was singing, it changed. Nothing too drastic and nothing bad, it fits the music well. LCB has a good amount of releases under their belt and by about now it seems like a lot of bands try to do something a little different and change it up… thank god they did not do that. From the first time I listened to it, I loved it and each time I listen to it again I love it that much more.
The recording quality of the album is great, probably the best that they have put out. Some people would argue that clean recording quality and hardcore/punk do not mix, it needs that "gritty" sound. Well, Rob from Blood for Blood said it best when he said "A good songs a good song. The format, the distortion, the acoustic, half tempo, double tempo, whatever… that doesn't change anything." Isn't that the truth? When you think of punk rock music you do not really think of guitarists whipping out some sweet leads, tell that to Marty. He uses his skill to spice up the tracks and also adds a nice dynamic. In my opinion he is one of the best guitarists in punk right now, If not the best.
This album is full of everything that you have come to expect out of these guys, from the music to the lyrics it is all there and it is all great. On the instrumental track titled "Lip Music" they whip out the piano and tickle the ivory. An "instrumental track?" you are probably thinking and yes, it is damn good. My favorite track on this one by far is number ten, "(Cats Clause)".
The Lower Class Brats truly are herding in the new seditionaries.
