The Killing MoonThe Killing Moon from Portland, Maine play emotional punk, no ways around that. To me they seem like they’re trying to break it big in the near future. The one thing that they are banking on is their use of a saxophone and a trombone through an effects pedal. Usually I am a sucker for horns, but it just seems to gimmicky for me. Because if you take away the effects you’re left with mediocre pop punk. I’m not going to sit here and type up some ignorant bullshit just because this isn’t a genre I like. So I will say this, the vocalist can sing, better than a lot of bands I have been hearing trying to play this style of music, albeit he does have some really off moments but he can hold his own. The instruments are proficient, they have their moments in some songs, especially in the final two but it’s just not enough to stand out from the herds of bands doing the same thing, trying to get rich and appeal to the young teenage girls. The layout is god awful, it’s screaming emo, from the picture to the colors, emo. The production isn’t bad, their wasn’t anything that was glaring. But at the end of the day, this is just another band trying to break it big and they just aren’t there yet. There are too many emo bands trying to cash in right now for this to get to the top but if they are still doing this 10 years from now without getting rich I’ll have some respect for them until then.......

Songs Worthy of Replay: If I had to choose one, A Book of Love Stories
Thesis: The bio sheet says these guys aren’t emo, rather they’re a rock band. That’s like Mark Mcgwire and Sammy Sosa saying they weren’t on roids when they hit 70 home runs. Not something I would recommend, and not something I would listen to.
