In My Way, from Washington, D.C. play bare bones old school hardcore the way it was meant to be played, with conviction. And they bring the hammer down with seven tracks that are bursting with raw energy and X'd up passion. They do a masterful job of blending the modern youth crew sound of today with the greatest period of SxE hardcore known to man, the early Revelation records years without coming off as a rehash. Setting it off, is the track "Another Forgotten Name" which slams its way through its 1:16 duration, which really reminded of me of old Chain of Strength stuff. The next track, "Time Goes On," is my favorite track on here, it just makes me want to move around. At the 56 second mark this song just kills it, everything slows down and the singer just takes it to another level until they speed it up to end the song off. And just let me say, the singer really elevates this band to another level, his scream just demands your attention. The lyrics are also top notch, dealing with friends with drinking problems (Just Quit), breaking edge (Gone To Waste), kids who turn their back on the scene and SxE (Another Forgotten Name, Without You.) On the production side of things, this was recorded perfectly by Chris Camden, he really captures the rawness of the band without having it sound too dirty or too polished. The vocals are placed perfectly in the mix, the drums are dead on the mark, and guitar is nice and full, and the bass is right where it should be. The layout is what you would expect from a band of this style, down to the font and the layout. It seemed a little rushed because theirs a lot of typos in the lyrics and even the song title for Time Goes On is Time Moves On in the sleeve, but it's not that big of a deal. The trash, grey swirled vinyl looks real nice, so for all you avid record collectors grab this one while you can. I am absolutely the furthest thing from straight edge but yet I listen to an ungodly amount of edge bands, go figure, and this is another band that I will be listening to for years to come. Keep it up, and get out a full length fellas, I'll be looking forward to it.
