GatherThis here is a Bay Area, CA veganism band fronted by a girl named Eva, that is EXTREMELY environmentally and politically conscious, which I could tell by their layout right off the bat. And after reading the lyrics it solidified that thought. In their brief stint as a band they have released a split with Seven Generations and an EP titled Total Liberation.
There are 10 tracks in all that typically roam the 2-3 minute area. They play a more metallic brand of hardcore but not over the top with insane breakdowns and what not. For the most part I really liked the vocals but when she started to do the talk singing thing it really aggravated me. It's insane how vicious her actual scream is but when she starts to talk she sounds like a tiny middle school girl. I wasn't feeling that at all.
The production is extremely solid and I wouldn't have expected otherwise considering this was recorded by Vic DiCara (Inside Out, Shelter, Burn. And 108) at Static Void. The guitar tone has good bite and depth. The bass tone is really solid and features a really nice treble tone that still remains thick enough to round out the mix. The drums are good across the board; toms, kick, snare, cymbals. The vocals were tastefully placed in the mix.
Very cool layout that ties into what the band is about. On the front cover, the top half is a industrialized city juxtaposed against the wilderness with an image of gorilla eyes splitting the two, which is quite genius when you think about it. Each song has it's own page for lyrics and follow the same scheme of the front cover except on each page there is a different animal for each page.

Synopsis: Very insightful lyrics that are screamed over an awesome blend of metallic hardcore. The lyrics were composed extremely well and offer intelligent insight into what is going in the world through the eyes. This one has also has a damn good recording with a really nice layout. If you think good vegan hardcore has fallen off the map, check this band out. Not quite as good as Kingdom but good nonetheless.
