Deal With ItThese blokes are from Leeds, England and play meaty, straight edge metallic hardcore. They feature ex-members of What Hope Remains and Fifty On Red. If you like bands like Breakdown, XchorusX, Leeway, Judge, and No Warning odds are you'll be feeling what these guys are doing.
This is an EP that contains 5 new tracks, along with the band's 2006 demo which is comprised of 4 tracks. Most of the songs are right around the two minute mark and they do a great job of keeping the energy level high while still hitting you off with plenty of midpaced breakdowns and some really well done leads/solos. The vocals are on the burly side, though every now and then the vocalist throws in some shouts that are very reminiscent of George from Blacklisted.
Man is it fun reading the lyrics of this band. I don't think I've ever listened to an album that has said ‘bloody' so many times. And I learned a new word from these guys, plonkers. God bless those crazy English. The lyrics overall are really strong, I enjoyed them a lot more than I thought I would. The opening track "World Coming Down" is about why God should even bother on saving something as fucked up as the human race. The second track "Last Days" is about people giving up on SxE. The third song, "Fairytale" is about the pains and struggles of working a mundane 9-5. The final new track, "Goodbye Cruel World" is a hate filled rant of the singer and how much he would love to slit your fucking throat. Going back to the band's demo days is the track "Clockin Out" which is a lot like the third track, the pains of the 9-5. "Flowers In The Attic" is about the hypocrisies in the hardcore scene. "Dead Weight" is about bands doing it for the sexy and money. "Kill Yourself" is about someone is all talk and no action.
The layout definitely is a good indicator of the type of sound these guys will have. Plus, there is a ton of crazy contrast stuff going in the background that makes you look a little deeper. The main image of the layout is of two crazy looking flies or something over global map with tons of intricate details like the little skulls in the wings of the flies. The booklet is two panels and displays the lyrics over a slightly contrasted black background and two thumbs up for being easy to read.
Rating: 3.8/5
Songs Worthy of Replay: World Coming Down and Goodbye Cruel World
Synopsis: Very impressive EP and I'm liking how Dead & Gone Records, along with other labels are including the bands demo along with the EP itself. Judging by how these guys improved from their demo days, I only see good things coming from these guys.
