Brutal KnightsThis 5-piece is also from Toronto and have released an EP titled "Not Fun", the LP "Pleasure Is All Thine", both on Deranged Records and another EP called "Terrible Evening" on Ptrash Records.
These 4 guys and 1 girl turn in 14 tracks that clock out at 18 minutes. The music is definitely influenced by the so called golden age of hardcore, the early 80's. To use a stupid analogy to describe the music, it's like a lopsided, semi-burnt cake with blotches of icing. As horrible as all that sounds, it taste quite good actually. The vocals are tastefully obnoxious and when the back up's kick in it sounds like Cartman from South Park. Yeeees!
This band is good, but the lyrics take them to the next level, haha this shit is off the wall, I love it. The lyrics are so random and absurd, they barely make sense half of the time. This band should patent a machine that turns a rational thought into mindless nonsense, they would be rich. The song "We Have A Website" cracked me the fuck up, especially considering they actually don't. And yes, the title is exactly what the song is about, the manage to throw in some other random shit as well. "Don't Tour" is a bunch of inane comments of reasons not to go on tour, "Stay at home and chew gum, if tour, you dumb". A wonderful song called, "Unofficial Biography of Bill Clinton", which does a good job summing his life up in 14 short lines. "Information Overload" is probably the most serious song on here, barely, it talks about how people are bombarded with so much media.. "Extreme Lifestyles 07" I can't even put into words. "I Do Nothing" is an account of lifeless soul who does nothing but sleep all day simply summarized. "Grow Up, Throw Up" is a wonderful tune about growing up: "Put a rock on the finger of your ho. Stop smoking rock, stop thinking of on whose face to empty cock". That people, is artistic genius at it's finest.
The recording has a nice dirty sound to it, not terribly dirty but just rough enough around the edges to give it that dated sound. The bass is treble heavy, which works for the tone of the album The guitar is thin, but in a good way because it works good with the material. The obnoxious vocals are nice and loud in the mix. The drums sound good.
Sometimes a simple black and white color scheme can be much more effective than a full blown spectrum. The front cover is simply a black and white photo of the band at a buffet table covered with McDonald burgers, Hellman's, Nesquick, orange soda, and various other odd food items, which ties nicely into the album title. The main dish is one of the members roasted with an apple stuffed in his mouth. It's a shame the lyrics are hard to read because they squeezed 14 tracks of lyrics into two pages, and on top of that it is written in sloppy cursive. The back of the booklet has a cool black and white drawing of the band members with one of them hanging on the cross with a wooden BK sign hanging on the top.

Songs Worthy of Replay: Grow Up Throw Up and We Have A Website
Synopsis: A lot of people will absolutely hate these guys, especially people that are PC and like substance, and probably turn their noses up at death metal. But fuck it, hardcore was and IS supposed to be abrasive and obnoxious and this band is certainly those two things. Get the sand out of your vagina, listen to this and enjoy it for what it is and laugh it up.
