At Risk are a Santa Cruz, CA based hardcore band and when I say hardcore I mean straight up, in your face, no bullshit hardcore. Through the 19 minutes this 12 track album has you gripped by the throat while the vocalist screams his views with every vein in his face and neck on the verge of exploding. The opening track "You’re Mediocre at Best" shows the bands ability to implement fast to mid tempo hardcore grooves ala Internal Affairs and In Pieces while the singer calls out the sheep in hardcore. The song "Heart Attack," bitches out all of the lead singers in hardcore preaching hollow words. Overall, much of the lyrical content is common to this brand of hardcore. That’s the only bad thing you can say about this release, it’s not great, it’s not bad but it’s been done so many times and there is nothing memorable enough to put this band on the tip of every hardcore kids tongue. But if there’s one thing that can take this band to the next level it would be the singer. He just needs to take on more topics with his lyrics. Through and Through this is a solid release, from the musical content, to the production, as well as the layout. Just nothing that sticks out.

Rating: 3/5

Songs worthy of replay: Tombstones Don’t Talk Back, Heart Attack

Thesis:Good hardcore with great dance parts, just needs a little extra something to get constant replay in the CD player.
