Arson AnthemThe first thing I thought when I found out about these guys was, damn Phil Anselmo is in another fucking band? Holy fucking Jebus. And then I saw Mike Williams of Eyehategod was doing vocals and Hank III was on drums, my interest went through the roof. Oh yeah, and then there's this other guy named Colin Yeo, who I've never heard of and doesn't appear to be an ex member of any band worth mentioning.
So what can you expect? 8 songs delivered in a mere 11 minutes, with no let up what so ever. This shit definitely shows the guys love for bands like Negative Approach, Poison Idea, Void, and Discharge and other UK D-beat styled bands. This throwback to the 80's is fast and wastes not a single second. Phil Anselmo's simple, but extremely effective guitar playing, Mike Williams agonizing screams and III's fast and hard hitting drumming makes for an enjoyable listen.
Many will argue, the worst thing about this release is the fact that it's so short, the shit comes and goes in a blink of an eye but in my opinion that works in the bands favor. Rule number one: always leave them wanting more and this EP does just that. Also, considering most of the guys in the band have other projects that they are in involved makes you wonder if and when another Arson Anthem will come out, creating only more demand! Man, Phil sure has done his homework! :insert stupid ass chuckle:
With all the high profile members one would expect a superb recording, with all the polish you could ever dream of. Well these guys said fuck that shit, let's make this shit sound like it was recorded in a basement circa ‘82. And on the real, I like the shitty, dirty ass recording, it gives the album the last bit of bite needed.
The layout of the album is a real piece of shit. Shit, even bands putting out DIY records back in the 80's put out records that look better than this dookie.

Songs Worthy of Replay: Cops Shoot Coke & The Avoider
