The irony of life Even though my days have been spent working like a bee, you wouldn't know it from visiting the site. Sometimes certain things take precedent over other things. While my ass has been absent from things on here, John has been doing work. I can't thank my man John enough for keeping things going on here. With all that gushy shit aside, check out his reviews for Obnoxious Obloquy, Gray Ghost and Bomb Town. RIP Harry Kalas It is a depressing day in Philadelphia; the voice of the Phillies over the last 38 years has passed away. You will be missed Harry! Review of Decoys And Lures by Philadelphia's Live To Tell has been posted. Check it out! Here is some news to feast your eyes upon: The Perpetual Motion Machine Announces Upcoming Releases from Kowloon Walled City, Ancient Sky, The Catalyst: On the heels of last year's well-received Turk Street 10"/CDEP, San Francisco's KOWLOON WALLED CITY will begin recording a full-length this week, for release on The Perpetual Motion Machine this summer. Turk Street's downtuned, post-hardcore sludge garnered positive reviews in magazines like Thrasher and Terrorizer, along with plenty of blogosphere hype. For this follow-up, as of yet unnamed, the group will once again set up shop in their rehearsal space in San Francisco for a few weeks of recording. Ever the archivists, they'll be blogging the process at their website inthewalledcity.com. Expect a street date late this summer. In the meantime, do yourself a favor and check out KWC's five song Turk Street EP, available for free high quality download and purchase at: http://inthewalledcity.com/ http://myspace.com/kowloonwalledcity Also in the works for a summer release is the debut full length from the relatively new Brooklyn-based psych/stoner rock band, ANCIENT SKY, who feature members of Majority Rule, Darkest Hour, Ghastly City Sleep, and Verse En Coma. The band just completed recording their debut seven song full length at the Seaside Lounge in Brooklyn and have handed it off to Paul Gold (Fucked Up, Animal Collective) for mastering. Their self-titled full length is set to be released on LP/CD in July 2009 on The Perpetual Motion Machine in the US and on Sons of Vesta Records in Europe. Additional details to follow. http://myspace.com/ancientskyband http://theperpetualmotionmachine.com Finally, our friends in Richmond, Virginia's noise rock/hardcore amalgam, THE CATALYST have finally finished writing their first full length, "Swallow Your Teeth", the long-awaited follow-up to their 2007 ep, "Marianas Trench". The band will be heading to the studio in May with Steve Roche (Off Minor) and plan to release the album on LP+CD (packaged together) later this summer on The Perpetual Motion Machine in the US and Sons of Vesta Records in Europe. Late summer/fall tours are in the works for the US and Europe. http://myspace.com/thecatalyst http://theperpetualmotionmachine.com Panic Records signs Bostons' Lions Lions www.myspace.com/lionslions --Jeff

Life gets in the way of living Just posted an interview that I did with Jake Lefco and Happ G, owner of Jake's label Karma Response Unit Records. I should have a couple more interviews by the end of the week with some reviews (finally!) In other news: BULLDOZE touring with Skarhead Starting this Tuesday, October 14th, NY's Beatdown kings BULLDOZE will be on the road with the Kings at Crime SKARHEAD. The DVD contains over 1 hour of live Bulldoze footage shot at the legendary NYC clubs, CBGB and The Wetlands. For Fans of Killing Time, Hatebreed, Sworn Enemy and Death Before Dishonor. http://www.myspace.com/bulldoze Following up their 2007 full length "Omnivore" will be no small feet for Poughkeepsie's ROBOTS AND EMPIRE but the boys have again begun recording more tunage with Dean Baltulonis at his Wild Artic studios in Queens. Expect more riffs to pound your stoned skull in. ATLAS SHRUGGED to complete recording for CD discography In November, ATLAS SHRUGGED will once again enter Last Stop Studios with engineer Kevin Reilly to complete their recordings for their upcoming discography CD. These recordings are ATLAS SHRUGGED material that never made it to the recording studio during the band's initial existence. Once recording and mixing are completed, all ATLAS SHRUGGED recordings will then be compiled and mastered for the discography CD. Still carrying a great buzz from playing with their NYHC idols Absolution this past August, the guys in ATLAS SHRUGGED are psyched to be completing what will most likely be their last studio recording. The repress of their 1998 "We Don't Stand a Chance" 7" is still available worldwide. TOURNAMENT recording new material Hot of the heels of their East Coast summer tour, Brooklyn's TOURNAMENT will be recording some new material for what seems to be a split 7" on Forcefield Records. If the new demo song on their myspace is any indicator, their new material will definitely keep me nodding my head like I'm on speed. TOURNAMENT also has quite a few shows coming up… 10/28 Brooklyn, NY @ Union Pool (Trap Them & Tournament) 11/1 Allentown, PA (The Wayward & Tournament) 11/2 Brooklyn, NY @ The Charleston (The Wayward & Tournament) 11/7 Boston, MA @ PA's (The Wayward & Tournament) 11/8 Syracuse, NY @ Spark Art Gallery (The Wayward, Tombs, Engineer & Tournament) 11/14 Harrisonburg, VA @ Blue Nile (The Wayward & Tournament) 11/15 Richmond, VA @ Nara Sushi (The Wayward & Tournament) 11/24 Brooklyn, NY @ The Charleston 12/12 NYC, NY @ The Cake Shop Victims join the Deathwish Inc. family, "Killer" CD out soon, shows w/ Disfear, Burst, etc. Victims from Stockholm Sweden have joined the Deathwish affiliated family. Panic Records is beyond psyched to welcome Outrage to the Panic Records roster! New England is often praised for harvesting some of the best Hardcore bands around. Bane, Have Heart, Verse...Outrage. That's right...OUTRAGE! Outrage is a powerhouse of heavy, metallic, Straight Edge hardcore. Earlier this year, Outrage wrote and recorded their debut EP to be released by Panic Records entitled "Savior". 7 Songs of angry 90's style hardcore that's up there with the aforementioned New England greats. Biased that we'd believe this to be one of the best records to come out this year? ...Maybe, but we know this record will make a mark in the same way that bands like Have Heart and Verse have. Look for Outrage's "Savior" to hit stores and digital retailers November 25th, 2008! In the meantime, check out "This City..." on the Panic Radio Player at www.panicrecords.net. Add Outrage on Myspace www.myspace.com/outragenb Trial "Are These Our Lives?" Re-Release on Vinyl and Digital Format After almost 10 years of it's original release, repressings without the artwork, lyrics and liner notes. Trial's first and only full length sees a proper re-release on Vinyl and Digital Download format, that unlike the CD version, includes the full artwork, lyrics and liner notes. Pre-Orders are up now for the limited press of 500 copies on 12" vinyl (250 Brown, 250 Maroon), these are expected to ship beginning to mid November. Random test presses will be inserted into the pre-orders. You can order now at www.panicrecords.net/webstore Escapist Records has posted two additional tracks from Dead and Buried's upcoming full-length, "Bear Witness." You can stream the songs "Mistakes" and "Glory Days" (featuring Justice from Trapped Under Ice) online at the label's Myspace page. Two previously posted songs from the album can be streamed at the band's Myspace. http://www.myspace.com/escapistrecords http://www.myspace.com/deadandburied --Jeff

It's been a minute. Sorry for the lack of updates of the last week, I've been just a wee lazy and have had some other things to tend to. Well anyway I have two new reviews, courtesy of John Martin of Bishop 19 Records. The bands he covered are Tortured By Turtles (really good shit by the way) and Warpriest (also very good). So head on over to the review section to check them out. I'm trying to type up a review for Trap Them, should be up by the end of the day, if not tomorrow. --Jeff

Corrections and 7 Inches A slew of 7" reviews for Government Warning, Wasted Time, and Time To Escape The Warriors' review posted about a month ago had an error, it had my name on it instead of John Martin, sometimes I get happy fingers and don't really pay attention as well as I should. My apologies. Copper Lung Records will be putting out a Kid Dynamite tribute which is due out in March. There's a lot of good bands on there, so keep an eye out.
All Teeth - Never Met The Gooch

"Remember You Are Mortal" Review for Pellinore's "Memento Mori/Hell Mouth" has been posted. I got a lot of awesome albums that will be covered soon, hopefully I can get 3 or more up this weekend. Agnostic Front joins Bridge 9 Records: For My Family Is a 3-song 7" featuring TWO new songs from the upcoming LP Warriors hitting stores November 6th via Nuclear Blast and one song, "Break The Chains" only available on this 7". It's a one time pressing, and we can safely say that Agnostic Front is still on top of their game. The first note of "For My Family" to the double bass and straight up punishing riffs of "Dead To Me," Warriors is going to blindside you. Produced by Freddy Criecen of Madball fame & Zeuss (Shadows Fall, Hatebreed), we're honored that Agnostic Front wanted to work with us and in case we need to repeat ourselves. Eternal Hope Records has signed Battle from Gaineseville, FL. More details coming soon! Break Through The Chains That Bind Us. Just a single review today, and it's for a split between Provoke & Tempo38 titled "Brothers In Battle" Innerstrength Records announces All Out War’s follow up EP to the recently released ,Assassins in the House of God on Victory Records. This EP, titled Purity Through Annihilation is due to be released at the end of this year. All Out War is considered to be one of the first to cross the brutality of death metal with the aggression of New York hardcore. Throughout All Out Wars long history they have toured with such diverse acts as Shadows Fall, Dying Fetus, Cro-Mags, Turmoil, Hatebreed, Ringworm, and God Forbid. They have also shared the stage with bands like Deicide, Napalm Death, Bad Brains, Converge. Sheer Terror, Starkweather, Job For A Cowboy, Agnostic Front, and many others. This EP will include five new songs of crushing, thrash inspired hardcore anthems as well as two covers and original demos dating back to 1991. All Out War will enter Big Blue Meenie Studio in October to record the effort. Dave Quiggle will once again handle art for the cover. With the addition of Lou Medina , former drummer of NYHC legends Breakdown, these five songs promise to be All Out War’s most powerful release to date. More reviews coming over the weekend. --Jeff

Because They Are That Good...
Ontario’s finest new hardcore export, To The Lions, are no strangers to the scene. Having several members of the seminal band Grade, To The Lions is a refreshing throwback to hardcore of the past while helping re-shape hardcore of the future. Not a far departure from bands like Integrity, Bane, and Damnation A.D., To The Lions are fiercely passionate and possess something so lacking in hardcore today: substance. Angry, thunderous, and demanding to be heard, check out the song "Nightmare Begins" off of To The Lions’ debut album Baptism Of Fire now at www.myspace.com/goodfellowrecords! Baptism Of Fire will be in stores June 19th

So soon?! Yes, another update already. It is only a mere four reviews of Permanent, Witches With Dicks, Lower Class Brats and Krum Bums but expect another update in the next week or so of My Turn To Win, Fahrenheit 451, Nightrage, Subhoodz, and Rivalry Records Showcase 2006 DVD. Be on the lookout because reviews and interviews will be coming a lot more swiftly. --Jeff

Sorry Folks! Sorry for the long delay between updates, even for our standards. First, the FTP program we were using started to shit out on us, so had to resolve that, then Alex, who does the updating wasn't really up to it, so I had to figure out how to do this shit myself. Well, for now I put up a good bulk of the reviews I've had since the last update. I have interviews with Jake Lefco and Side Effect that should've been up a looong time ago. Once I acquit myself with updating them, they will be up. We also have some articles from Scott who is in Signed With Hate. Now that I can do this on my own expect more frequent updates. Thanks to the good people who have been supportive over these bad times. --Jeff

Happy (late) New Years! Well 2006 is over, and like any other year its had its peaks and valleys. But now we start again with a clean slate, so make the best of it. So until the next time, keep up with those New Years resoultions and we'll be back with more reviews and an interview with Mr. Jake Lefco of Karma Response Unit Records. So keep your eyes peeled. Also, I posted this on our Myspace page but incase you might have missed it, the one update was wiped off the review page for whatever reason, so here are they are in the interim until we can get them back up.
