Life of Death

Jeff: Start with the most original question of all haha....Whose in the band and what do they play?
Ryan: Dj  Guitar   Captian  Vocals     Ryan "face" Drums   Andy Guitar and  Brandon Bass
Jeff: What's the scene like in Fallbrook, CA?
Ryan: Its Dope alot of young energetic kick back kids that are all about their town and are down with Life or Death
Jeff: Any bands you'd want people to peep from your hometown?
Ryan: hahah not really in Fallbrook  Step it up from San Marcos CA our friends  and Vendetta from Ventura cool kids also
Jeff: ah yes Vendetta is some good shit.......You guys got anything available like demo's, shirts and shit?
Ryan: yea our Full length will be comming out on 1917records  in the first week of August and we will have our shirts on the 1917 site
Jeff: How do you prefer listening to music, CD format or Vinyl?
Ryan: well im all about vinyl but i cant play it in my car so id have to say cd   and soon it will all be on i pods  i keep on seeing thoes things
Jeff: yeah Ipods are blowing up like crazy...You listen to anything other then hardcore like hip hop and shit?  I ask this because I am currently listening to Organized Konfusion, some of the sickest hip hop shit I've ever heard.
Ryan: yea  well all of us listen to a fair about of Hip hop  our guitar player and bassest are always jamming that shit i like more of the main stream rap and hip hop like Ludacris Snoop Dawg  Clipse Nas  kinda stuff  all witch i can say have influenced life or death greatly
Jeff: I forget what song it was by Clipse but it was a single a year or so ago that the cats from NERD produced was hot.....What's some of your favorite albums that came out this year and what are you looking forward to?
Ryan: Ohh gezzz  the new Stamping Ground  God Forbid for me Hoods  Im looking forward to hear the new Convege new Death Threat the new stuff from our friends in As I lay Dying
Ryan: the new hatebreed cd  thats some better stuff
Jeff: Speaking of Hatebreed, what's your opnion on the kids who cry about them selling out?
Ryan: hahah well the singer and i were pobably some of thoes kids whining  when perseverence came out we thought that it was dope heavy awsome cd but it sure wasn't hardcore  they came to Corona to play No Innocent Victims last show and they made a comment about how they can be taken out of hardcore but they cant have the hardcore taken out of them and  Captain and I thought that was kind of lame sounding,  If your that big choose your tours  i can see ozzfest and huge tours like that but whatever i think they had to do it  to be where they are now.  They got ahold of a new audience and then put out this new CD that is real down to earth hardcore and they even give shout outs to madball and sick of it all in the lyrics  so i think it was all in their plan   you shouldn't cry about them now!
Jeff: If you had the chance would you like to make a living off music or do you really not give a fuck?
Ryan: haha Yes!  i hated school i didnt graduate college and i dont know what the heck i would want to do with my life. Music is what i enjoy and what i do its the majority of my life so if i could make my decent living off of it i would do it in a sec  i would play Hardcore/ and Metalhardcore for sure
Jeff: Did you vote for Arnold?
Ryan: Yea  of course  i hate Grey Davis
Jeff: Yeah he fucked shit up big time in Cali, how do you think Arnold's been doing as governor?
Ryan: Yea he did, I really dont know  thats how a lot of politics are i think there all all these jacked up situations and theres someone with a great plan or idea on how to fix them then when your hire these people then everything seems ok  but you really dont know what the hell is going on of if they really are doing what they said they would do so  ahhh as long as arnold isn't wasting money like mr. davis did then in my book thats alot better
Jeff: yeah thats the thing with politics, the common man never has a fucking clue as to what goes on behind the doors.  Can't believe everything you see on TV and read in the newspaper.  So How'd you guys hook up with 1917 Records?
Ryan: Sean Riley first put out the DonnyBrook ep and we knew that as soon as that cd came out in our area it would be big, for the label  we were looking to send our demo stuff to labels just so we could put out a full length  Riley approached us and wanted to hook us up.  We didnt have to talk to him much,  just the way he suppored us,  before any talk of our cd came around  Riley was comming to shows talking on the computer or over the phone with us.  he is a down to earth professional  and that was enough to want to work with 1917 and you have dope cali bands like DonnyBrook piece by piece  and now Mass. Guns up.  1917 has an awesome future.
Jeff: Yeah definitely.  And I dont know Riley like that but everytime I've talked with him you can tell the guy has his shit straight.....Shit I don't believe I didn't ask this before haha, were any of guys in other bands?
Ryan: Riley also hooked us up with Nick from DonnyBrook  he recorded our cd for almost nothing and it came out better then if we would have spent a shit load of time and Money in a bigger studio  it was dope to work with a hard core kid who knows how we were soposed to sound                     Not anything that people would know   Captain and Dj were in a band together called perseverence, Thier drummer moved to North Carolina and he became the drummer for Nourish the Flame   when the drummer moved  I wanted to branch off of what Cap and DJ started.  I was in a band called Ill-Advied and we had broken up a few months before  so (Jeremy Craw)the guitarest, and i from that band worked with cap and dj and started it all
Jeff: I dont know about about you but I like a record that sounds raw rather then polished
Ryan: Thats probably why i like it so much it has the polished fullness of an expencive cd but the recording captures the rawness of a smaller studio  i think most people into hardcore and metal will like it alot
Jeff: Definitely, from what I've heard from you guys, you can definitely tell All Out War and Cold As Life were influences, any others you care to name?
Ryan: haha yea we love thoes bands,  Deffinatly  Buried Alive, Turmoil , Walls of Jericho, Hoods.  Dj (guitars) writes most of the stuff  and all he grew up on and all he really knew for years was Metalica, Pantera, Slayer, Nevermore and other wierd butt rock stuff. as soon as he got into hardcore and faster old school styled hardcore he blended what he liked
Jeff: rocking out the cock out! hahaha.  What do you guys got planned for the future?
Ryan: hahahah!   We plan to get out on the road with some good tours, We would like to just open up for some bigger tours and start our base that way. we did small DIY tours that we set up and i was hard going from show to show with absolutly no money and money comming our of eveyones lunch money to buy gas or tires so, a good tour with some money would be the ideal future and just see how we can progess from there Time will tell.
Jeff: Isn't it ironic time is supposed to heal all wounds, yet eventually it kills us? Fucking time always fucks shit up.  Do you believe in the saying youth is wasted on the young? and oh man I definitely fucked up and said rock out the cock out haha
Ryan: Yea like the Hoods album  Time the Destroyer Yea i Believe that for sure, every day is closer to the unknown time of extinction of our own lives or mankind. People who are suffering its the time thats killing them.  Time kills most everything.  If you look back at America a hundred years ago and see yea there was a some of terible shit going on  but in the time of 100 years there has been so much more crap go down, two world wars, wars in Asia and the Pacific and two in Gulf area just think as time goes on the more shit will hit the fan and some time destroy us.   and yea you did say Rock out the cock out
Jeff: I got to ask this question, and take in consideration I have no idea how close Fallbrook is to LA but are you a Lakers fan?
Ryan: Fallbrook is about an hour and a half south of LA Captain or singer is all about the lakers  I Hate the Lakers i was for Houston and San Antonio  alot of our friends were for the Sac. Kings  I just cant stand the lame hype of the lakers and the stupid celebraties that like them.
Jeff: you are truely a good man hahaha. Hopefully Shaq will be traded and Kobe convicted and end that fucking team.
Ryan: Hhhahahhahahah Wouldn't that be the most entertaining Finish to them haha
Jeff: more entertaining than them shitty celebs that go to their games
Ryan: haha Yea!!
Jeff: Alright, here's a man's man question haha, you like your girls asses big and round or small and tight?
Ryan: Feewwww!  That is a question i think im more into the Small and tight  I have a little philipino girlfriend now and ive got to like it. but who cant resist to look at the fatties  We go down to Tj Mexico and play down there alot and the life or death crew has seen a few of the largest but dopest Booties down there Fewww! its awsome!
Jeff: mexicano hunnies gotta have the fatties
Ryan: hahah  sure do
Jeff: I always hear about cops in TJ trying to get over on american cats for money.  Every encounter any problems with them mexicano po-po?
Ryan: Ohhh man too many times for friends peeing our guitarest got the bust a couple of times  and had to pay in the hundreds to get off  the craziest of them all was when we went to a club one of my freinds got money taken from him by one of the girls at the club so he old the club owner and he brought us the equivlent in beer to make up for it  then when the girl came back to give my friend the money he pocked the money and kept quitet  then when it was time to pay for the owner back, who know that the girl gave the money to him,  my friend stood up and told the owner that she gave him back only 5 dollars so the pissed off owne when to get the girl while we booked out of the club with free drinks we made it down the club stairs and then had the mexican police chasing us so we had to get our running in that night but we got away and home free  it was pretty scary
Jeff: Oh shit, them crazy ass Mexican po-po.  NOBODY wants to spend time in a mexican jail thats how them mother fuckers get so much money from tourists.
Ryan: Yep  i would never be put into those jails   thats got to be one of the scarest and worst places to get caught up in   as long as you play it safe you'll be ok in mexico
Jeff: Im a big fan of mexican food, i love tacos and burritos all that good shit.  I know cali's got mad taco spots, but whose got the better mexican food, Cali or Mexico?  And which one are you more suspicious of the contents?
Ryan: well im a vegetarian so its harder to find veg food in mexico  but my friends that eat meat love it down there its way cheap and real safe its the fish and vegitables that you have to be carfull with cause the water to clean them with isnt the best all the time  I stick to the few spots down there that have good beans and questidillas
Jeff: Damn I wonder what time Taco Bell opens now Im fucking huuuuungry as shit haha
Ryan: hahaha well if you were here we could go to Tj all clubs and food spots are open 24 hours
Jeff: that's what im talking about, shit here in Philly there aint shit open at night.  Except the pretzel factory.  Thats always good for when you're stoned and broke haha
Ryan: hahaha
Jeff: Ill tell you man nothing fills up a stoner at 4am with the munchies then 10 pretzels for 2 bucks
Ryan: wow i bet  we dont have that out here in cali  maybe when we hit up PA  we can check that out
Jeff: Funny you should mention that, you guys hitting up the NEPA area anytime soon?
Jeff: its even better for a group, fucking 30 pretzels for 4 bucks.  Haha me and 2 friends were in there one night eating every single one standing in there tearing up their mustard.  Needless to say they weren't thrilled about 3 blazed kids stuffing their faces with salty doughed goodness
Ryan: well we want to get out of CA when it cools down everywhere else like around Oct or Nov so we will see i got to rodie for hoods and see some of PA and thoes were some of the best shows that tour   Im deffinatly looking forward to the east
Jeff: Shit when you hit up PA, holler at your boy haha
Ryan: We will have to
Jeff: Shit if we want this interview to actually be read I guess we should cut it here hahaha........any shout outs, plugs, fuck you's feel free to go off like a mudda fucka
Ryan: Yea id like to shout out to Riley, Bo and 1917 they have been a huge help, all the bands in San Diego LA  Tijuana Sacto Las Vegas  Indiana Wisconsin and Texas that we have made friends with  and Go Check out Life or Death on tour or our CD Sentenced hitting everywhere in early August
Ryan: Thank you for the interview  and i hope you can understand all the shit i wrote
Jeff: hahaha thanks for doing the interview, it was a blast.  And its all about typos.  Theres not enough of them in interviews.  Keep it real and unadultered.  It's been a pleasure
