Who is Battle?
Battle! is James Brown(vocals), Riley Kenney (guitars), Jim Bruce (bad attitude and drums)
When most people think of Gainesville, FL they think of the whole poppy punk nonsense and post-hardcore shit. How would you say the music scene is in Gainesville?
Still the same, but I wouldn't say it's shit. Shows don't start till 11 o'clock most of the time, and if you're there at 11, you're early. But who gives a fuck about Gainesville? I mean really?
Any good bands people should check out?
Luca Brasi, honestly the best band on the planet, and they will never go on tour or play your town unless you live in Gainesville, FL. That's it...
What do you say when a venue/promoter says that won’t put you on unless you pre-sell 25-50 tickets?
That's never happened, and probably never will.
How did you hook up with Chris and Eternal Hope Records?
Played a show in New Jersey with Captives and Folly. We sent him our info, and it's been magic ever since.
What are the details for your upcoming release?
"In Remission" comes out on March 7, it's 18 tracks and people are either gonna love it or hate it. All pre-orders get a limited 7".
Are you of the opinion that the internet has helped hardcore/punk music by giving bands a chance to reach people they wouldn’t have otherwise or it’s hurt it because people are illegally downloading music?
Both, good because we booked our first few tours through internet, and bad because by downloading tons of music no one takes the time to appreciate compensate the bands anymore. They just collect music to find the band with the best breakdown, instead of listening to it because they want to find hope and values in the songs. However, for bands like us and hundreds of bands across the country it's a great way to get exposure.
Since we have just kicked off the new year, what are your plans for 2008?
You must mean Two Thousand Hate... HAHA! We plan on touring till our hearts stop.
Top five albums of 2007?

Jim: Career Suicide - A Wilhelm Scream, They Got Even Worse Live - NOFX, Riviana Junction - Tim Barry, Four One Five Two - Sundowner, This Sinking Ship - Smoke or Fire
How do you guys support yourselves when you’re not out on the road?
James and Jim work at the best bbq resteraunt in Gainesville. At least it's called work! Riley is a mooch but delivers food sometimes.
Aerial, ninja-hardcore dancing or stage dives and high fives?
Apparently you haven't seen our myspace page.
What does hardcore need more and less of?
More good bands.
Less heartless kids.
Which would you choose?
A) Emo Girl B) Preppy Girl C) Punk Girl D) All of the above
E) None of the above
Which presidential hopeful are you guys pulling for?
It doesn't matter because it's fixed from the start.
Favorite record label?
Eternal Hope Records of course!!!
Thanks a lot for taking the time out to do this interview guys. If you have any parting words, shout-outs, fuck you’s, etc. feel free to go off on a tangent.
"In Remission" comes out on March 7, it's an album that we've been busting our asses for the past three years to make. Do us both a favor and check it out!
